How We Help Employers
The best way for prospective employers to reach Harvard students is through the database. If you're looking for a student with a specific skill, a tutor, for example, or someone to help with your computing needs, check the student skills. Many students have already listed their skills and are pleased to be contacted by a possible employer.

You should know about the Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP) which covers from 50% to 90% of a student's wages up to a designated maximum based on each student's financial aid award. Not all financial aid students are eligible for the FWSP, however, so if the FWSP subsidy is a requirement for the position, please confirm his or her eligibility with a referral card from the SEO.
If you are an on-campus employer, you are responsible for 30% of the student's wage during the academic year, and from 36-40% over the summer depending on the University's established fringe benefit rate. You pay the student on your University payroll (payroll info) and your share will be calculated and adjusted at the close of every month.
The Student Employment Office pays students working in off-campus FWSP positions and bills the employer every few months for the employer share of the wages and the Student's fringe benefits. Most off-campus employers are responsible for 30% of the student's wages plus from 6-10% for fringe benefits. Community service agencies are responsible for 25% or 10% of the student's wages plus fringe benefits. Agencies eligible for the 90% reimbursement must provide direct public service work for the student and write a separate letter stating their inability to pay the 25% rate. Also, those agencies may not be directly connected to the University.
