Term-time employers
While most on-campus jobs qualify for Work-Study, some are nearly always available and are listed below. Off-campus employers include federal, state or local public agencies and private, non-profit organizations. For the widest possible choice, the best place to look is on the web site.
On Campus Employers
The Athletic Department hires many students to maintain equipment and monitor facilities. Contact Susan Erlich (496-1180) or Amy McNair (496-1225) in the Athletic Department Administration Office, 326A Murr Center, 65 No. Harvard St., where you can fill out a brief application and arrange an interview. Work-Study is preferred.
The College Library System has many jobs available in shelving, cataloging, checking books, processing book orders, etc. in the various libraries. You may contact Aaron Weinberger or Susan Brown in Widener Library G-20 (495-3721) to fill out a brief application when you get to Cambridge. These jobs require training and a full semester commitment. Work-Study is preferred.
Media and Technology Services provides all the media support for classes and events in FAS buildings. There are many job possibilities in running this equipment, and training is provided. Contact Mike Tomei (mtomei@fas.harvard.edu) at the Science Center B-02 (495-9460). Work-Study is not required.
The Language Resource Center needs students to direct other students to audio, video, and computer materials required for course work, to help people with computers and equipment, and other varied maintenance duties. Lecture Media Services @ the Science Center provides media services to professors, student groups, and other events taking place within the Science Center. There are jobs every semester for Camera Operators, Night-time Media Aides, & Black-board Washers. No previous experience required, we will train you. For more details, please contact Liz Orenstein (prep@fas.harvard.edu) at the Science Center Prep Room (495-5357). Work-Study is not required.
