Harvard University has a longstanding commitment to community service. It supports its students who become passionate about helping others by providing funding for students' time and fellowships for summer experiences all over the world. Students involved in public service often find themselves learning more than they ever imagined. Through their efforts to be of service, they become more thoughtful about root causes of social problems and their own ability to make an impact.
Students eligible for Work-Study may be paid an hourly wage for teaching children to read or for any number of community service positions advertised on our website. Work-Study eligible students may also apply for a Community Service Work-Study grant to cover the employer's share of their wages.
Students not eligible for the FWSP may want to apply for funding through the Fellowships Office at OCS.
All students interested in service are invited to Phillips Brooks House in Harvard Yard and to visit their website. There are also paid positions through the Center for Public Interest Careers (CPIC). For more CPIC information, please click here.
